Lovely genuine bloke Swinny,
Always endearing with that cheeky smile and impending bellicose laugh.
I would liken him to a Labrador, always happy to see you, warm and welcoming.. except he wasn't quite a purebred - he had a tiny bit of Staffie or something in him, otherwise known as Hank', his very amusing alter ego!
I know how much he will be missed by his respective families, my heart goes out to you all.

Only just heard about this tragic accident. It was always a pleasure to meet with James whenever he visited us in the UK or on travels to Germany. He always had a great smile and a warm reception and just like his dad. Our thoughts are with his family - Export team at Winnard UK

Devastated to hear of James's passing. I remember him as a great mate and leader at school and beyond into uni years. I have many fond memories, but the ones that are most vivid involve his inherent enthusiasm and lust for life, as well as his ability to see the good in everyone. Who could forget that smile, that infectious chuckle or that overwhelming enthusiasm for everything he did? What we at St Thomas' will remember even more is James' integrity and his essential goodness. From what we heard today in an inspirational celebration of his life as he "grew up" nothing changed. He was still funny, honest, a good friend and a much-loved son, brother, husband and father. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten. Our sympathy goes out to all who are grieving. So sorry to hear of Jame's untimely death. He was a great schoolmate and he carried his sense of fun and joy in life into adulthood. My thoughts are with his family and especially the children. Sincere condolences from the extended Lamb family.

Dear Gywnneth, Lyn, Michael, Anna and families. We were devastated to hear this news last Sunday and prayed really hard for a miracle but that was not to be. I only met James a few time but he was a a hell of a nice guy. So sad.

We considered James to be a friend as well as a boss and we are deeply saddened by this loss. We pray for his family during this time and that they will eventually find peace in his passing. May his laughter always echo in heaven.

So very sad to hear the news of James' passing - my condolences to the Swinburn family at this very sad time. Like many I will miss his beaming smile and great sense of humour! This weekend I'll be raising a glass for James, recalling some memories from a certain circle line pub crawl and playing a few songs for the man - Rest easy James.

It was good times whenever we caught up, whether it was sitting on a plane together, or some other chance meeting... top man! I'll miss him.

Terribly saddened to hear this news. Though we knew James only briefly, he was one of the most amazing people we met in our short time in New Zealand. A warm, welcoming man to these Yanks, he will not be forgotten in our home.

I haven't seen Swinny since high school days, but the impact he had on me in those years has never left and I've thought about him often.
