James MacDONALD Obituary

BROTHER Jim worked and lived for twenty years for my grandparents at East BayArapaoa island ,was part of the whanau and grew to adult hood along with some of my fathers siblings ,as a 14 year old ,not keen on going to scholl his dad asked if my grandfather would give him a job,and he did .Working on the farms for many years, milking cows ,scrub cutting ,fencing ,sowing seed etc.I recall when in school holidays spent with the grandparents ,I created a bit OF income ,for every shovel full of cow TIKO i caught before
it hit the cow bail floor Jim paid me threpence .Bit of a gambling man was James ,but i allways went home after holidays with more money i had when i went down.
Many other TALES can be told of his and our days on Arapaoa .
