Dear Louise,
I have just returned from Canada, to learn of Jim's sudden and untimely death. Please accept my warmest sympathy at such a sad time for you and your family.

Dear Louise, Olivia, Sophie, Eve and Crispin,
I was very sorry to hear about James's passing- he was such a kind man and I have fond memories of him from visiting Homebush. I can remember reading all his old Spectator magazines that accumulated in Crispin's model-making room, and trying to tidy-up the cricket gear he had patiently collected. He never seemed to get ruffled by anything, despite all that was going on in the house. I know you will be feeling his passing keenly.
My thoughts will be with you on Friday.
