DRABBLE, Isobel Elizabeth (Brakewell, nee Ellen):
Suddenly, after a battle with Mesothelioma, at Ngaio Marsh Hospital on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at 7.30am, peacefully in her sleep. Loved mum and mother-in-law of Paul; Jan and Laurence; and Rob and Rob; and nan of Joseph and Sean; Cara and Max; and Cherry and Anny; and cherished friend of Miles, and Quinn. Messages may be addressed to The Family of the late Isobel Drabble, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. At the request of the family no flowers please. A Service to celebrate Isobel's life will be held in our Westpark Chapel, 456 Wairakei Road, Burnside, on Saturday, November 17, at 2.00pm.

My Auntie Isabel (wife of my uncle Donny Breakwell, and my mum's younger brother). I will always remember going to your house in Tinwald as a child and remember the happy times. You were a fun loving lady - you will be truly missed.

I met Isobel at a theatre in Christchurch, NZ while I was touring the country in 1974 after graduating from college. She and her family 'adopted' me and we have been like family ever since. When I met her I had been away from my home in Toronto for 6 months and feeling very homesick. Her love and friendship has stayed with me the past 44 years. Farewell my friend. The world was a much better place with you Your love will sustain us going forward.

Isobel was my Godmother, she was a very interesting and talented lady. I am 65 and she has been in my life at all my sad and happy times. She will be sadly missed but always remembered.

Isobel was my bridesmaid 67 years ago and Godmother to my daughter Dianne. We met each other when we first started working and have been friends ever since. I will miss her dearly. My thoughts are with you all at this sad time. I will miss her friendship and regular phone calls. Rest In Peace Isabel.
