I was at primary school at Taramakau Settlement, I think 1965 when Irene and Ivan Shaw bought one of the neighbours dairy farms and Jennifer and Robert came to school, and to High School in Greymouth with us.
Irene was always a kind gentle lady. Irene and her Husband Ivan lived and farmed at Taramakau for about ten years before moving to Canterbury.
Our Mum died about 30 years ago and even though Irene had been off the Coast for 20 years, she and Robert came over to Mums funeral, which was very nice of her.
I send our love from Bruce and me to Jennifer and Robert.
Kind regards John Stewart

I am proud to call Irene my friend. I am missing our conversations in her garden. Love Kirsten

Auntie Irene was my dad's sister, closest to him in age. I remember visiting her and Uncle Ivan when they had a tomato farm when I was a child. I didn't see much of Auntie Irene. Family dynamics the way they were, didn't make this easy. But family is family, and I send much love to her children and grandchildren at the time of her passing.
