My friendship with lovely Ian has stretched over 50 years. We were both very active in the anti-apartheid movement in Christchurch. Then we split apart following our professions, until I needed help with finances, insurances and investments. And this old leftie wanted someone she could trust to honour her beliefs. What better person than Ian. That I am relatively secure now is up to Ian , looking after me. Ian has always mixed joy and friendship with his professional life. I have loved the shared meals, ...but i never took up dancing. Thank you, Ian for your wisdom, your kindness, your example of how to love and how to cope with tragedy. You are a special person whom I have been honoured to know over many years. I am sorry that I cannot be with family and friends in Christchurch tomorrow. May it be a joyous and happy occasion.
