I am sad to read Ian's death notice. Ian was in the same class as I at TBH as a boarder. Ian, Euan Ross and I were the only ones of that class to attain School Certificate in three years. I can remember going down to Fraser Park on Saturday afternoons to watch rugby. You were a fabulous sprinter Ian. We all had to run before daily showers but were never in your ability group! In later years we enjoyed school reunions & catching up with you. Our daughter attended a physio appointment, and you told her that you couldn't understand why I was so brilliant at Maths and Science yet so very dumb at English :) My loving prayers and sympathies are with you all at this time. To Edith and family. Disappointed I missed Ian's funeral yesterday and very sorry for your loss. Spent many happy times with Ian during our time involved with Christchurch United, what a great job he did. Kind regards,

To Edith and all your family - I have just been notified of your sad loss of Ian tonight by Jan Smith, so I am sincerely sorry to have missed his funeral today. Please accept my sincere condolences for a much valued colleague and mentor for many years. I will always treasure his wise words of wisdom and support that he gave me when I arrived in Canterbury 44 years ago. My thoughts are with you at this sad time.
Kind regards
