To David, Mike, Ros and the extended Ristrom family. We know that you will all greatly miss Ian, as will we. Charlie first knew Ian and Patsy before they were married and together we enjoyed many happy Christmas and other family celebrations with them in Melbourne. On a few memorable visits to Christchurch, inspecting the ginormous train set was a definite requirement. Meredith remembers a beautiful outing to Mt Cook, together with walks?? on foggy Christchurch nights with Ashley the Wonder Dog (with all four feet 4 feet in the air at once!). A shared love of labradors .
A couple with such grace and charm, having enjoyed the most joyful of long marriages.
We are so very glad that we saw Ian in mid-July and despite his health, had a couple of evenings laughing and crying together ..... memories.

Hello Michael and David.
I havent seen you both for a few years.
Ian was "a salt of the earth Man" and your Mum an "absolute Lady."
I enjoyed those years calling on Ian and Patsy at vagues road.
The welcome I always got was ledginary and the humour was something that I will always remember.
God bless them both.
I hope all is going well for you and my thoughts will be with you on Friday.
I would love to have been there.
Take care, stay safe and keep smiling.
Cheers,
Tim Brownie.

Condolences to all in the Ristrom family. I first met Ian in the early 80's when we were both members of the Jaycee movement. I always enjoyed his company, his laughter and his love of telling yarns. In 1982 he and Patsy were part of a large group to attend a Jaycee conference in Miyazaki in Kyushu, Japan. When the event was over we had to travel by a regional train to Oita to catch a Bullet train for our next stop. While on the regional train Ian and I walked to the front of the carriage, through a small vestibule and straight into the drivers compartment where we were both invited to have a turn in the drivers seat. I have a photo of Ian at the controls and keeping a close eye on the speedo while the Japanese driver stood behind him. These days you would not get past a locked door, so it was a very memorable episode in our lives. RIP Ian and Patsy

David, Michael and families. We shared lots of events, fun, and laughter with Ian and dear Patsy over many years and they leave a host of indelible memories and an irreplaceable hole in our lives. Unfortunately we won't be able to join you in fare welling Ian on Friday, but our thoughts will be with you. Sue and Jim Upston
