Howard MASTERS Obituary

On August 13, 2023, aged 92 years, after a short illness, Lang died at Basel, Switzerland while holidaying in Europe. Son of the late Howard and Ila Masters. Dearly loved husband of the late Maureen, loved brother, and brother-in-law of Janice and the late Robin Bell, Lynley and the late Brian McLeavey, Brian and Sylvia Somerville, treasured and precious uncle of Nicki, Rachel and Dave, Kristin and Bruce, Louise and Kelly, Simone and Eugene, Elisa and Paul, Victoria and Steve, Sarah-Kate and Steve, Raewyn and Jonathon, Joanne and Brent, Fiona and Ged, and loved grand-uncle of his great-nieces and nephews. Messages may be addressed to The Family of the late Lang Masters, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. In accordance with Lang's wishes, a Memorial Service will be held upon his repatriation from Switzerland.

Thankyou for the wonderful care and love you had for the Hollywood. My parents being the previous owners both deceased loved that theatre and would both be so pleased you stayed so long. Rest in peace Lang. From the Mac Dougall family

So sad to read of Langs passing. We were on holiday with him in Europe. We heard he wasn't well after we all left the boat. He did enjoy his trip. I spent some time with him on the boat. We had some great chats. We are still in Bavaria. Please accept our condolences we did enjoy his company.

Sad news - i have fond memories of Lang and Maureen at the Roxy theatre in New Brighton and was also fortunate to attend a screening of Some Like It Hot at his home cinema many years ago. A real gentleman with a passion for the cinema.
