Helen LYE Obituary
Helen Maree (nee Balch):
On December 18, 2022, at Christchurch Hospital; aged 59 years. Dearly loved wife of Maurice and cherished mother of Ben and Alex. Loved daughter of the late Kendal and Gabrielle, treasured sister of Ruth and Jillian and sister-in-law of Cliff, loved daughter-in-law of Ray and the late Janet, and a loved sister-in-law of Russell and Rosemary. Special thanks to all the staff at ICU and the Respiratory Team at Christchurch Hospital. Messages to the Lye / Balch family, c/- PO Box 111-01, Christchurch 8443. A private family service has been held and a public Memorial Service will be held in early 2023.

Helen was my childhood speech and drama teacher for over half a decade. She was a fantastic teacher. She not only assisted me in getting great exam results, but more significantly, she helped me develop my public speaking skills and confidence. I came across this obituary when looking her up to get in contact. I am sad that I never got to give her a proper thank you for the meaningful impact she had on my life. Thank you Helen. Rest in peace.

Maurice, Alex and Ben - so sorry to hear of Helen's passing. Very sad news. We are thinking of you all and sending our condolences. A giant of Speech and Drama, Helen has taught our two dear daughters, Cindy and Chantelle to become very accomplished speakers, through STAC. We feel so grateful to Helen! Helen has taught so many students, achieved so much, in so difficult times! She is truly amazing that her influence will continue for generations!
Have peace now, and rest well!
