A few thoughts from Helen's Paparoa Street School classmates 1954 - 1962

Gillian Latimer (Baxter) Helen was a very gentle soul, with a lovely , kind heart. And, of course, her beautiful curls.
Jenny Saville (Field) So sorry to hear the sad news. Helen and I lived opposite each other in Tomes road and often had sleep overs as our Mothers were good friends. We also started Ballet together and used to bus into the city every week until our family moved to Timaru but we both carried on our dancing for many years. Helen was a great friend.
Helen McIlroy (Simpson) Again sad news.....brings it home as how fragile life is
Geoff Ellis: I remember Helen in class. I remember her as quiet and shy but always friendly and with a ready smile - and quite smart, I think. Just so sorry I couldn´t be at more recent get togethers to see her again. My thoughts are for Margaret and Helen´s family.

Karen Broughton (Lassen) Oh no, I'm so terribly sad. Such a lovely little girl and an elegant woman. My love goes out to you Margaret, I know what good friends you were. I remember a wonderful birthday party at Helen's house. Maybe we were seven or eight. Those were the most special days. What a great time to grow up.

Pam Strachan (Symes) Farewell, Helen .... Was it Tomes Road where she lived? Just up from Mays ... yes, curls and a lovely shy smile. Can´t believe she knew a rude word!
Lynne Bruorton (Walkinshaw) How very sad. She had been to most of our get togethers. I had heard from Margaret she wasn't well but forget what illness she had. A big loss to her family and friends. Stay well everyone. Much love Lynne

Joan Kavanagh (Hicks) Helen will be remembered by me for her head of lovely curls and her very pretty face. She taught me what a very rude word meant when we were just 10 and I couldn't look my mum and dad in the eye for a very long time.

Sorry to read of Your loss Mark. Though it is a tough time now, it does eventually get easier. Apologies for not attending today, but my thought are with You, and I will follow on line.

We were the "3 Muskateers" aka the Zoology Department Administration Team at UC who became forever friends... coffees, lunches and anniversaries will never be the same - miss you already lovely lady your friendship and support over the years is something I will always treasure - gone but never forgotten.
