Helen CHAPPELL Obituary
Helen passed peacefully on Saturday, August 20, 2022, in her sleep aged 71 years. Dearly loved Mum to Charmaine and Mark Irwin and the late Andrew Chappell. Adored Grandma of Charlotte-Jane and Harry. Loved daughter of the late Alby and Nora Bernard. Cherished sister to Kay and Rob, Bev and Tony, Barry and Anne, and John and Meredith. A much loved Aunt to her nieces and nephews and their families. Helen will be sadly missed by her extended family and many friends. Special thanks to all the staff at Ilam and Woodcote Rest Homes for their outstanding care. In lieu of flowers, the family have set up a give a little page where donations will be made directly to Stand For Children for a memorial seat (known as Helen's seat) to sit in the grounds of Stand. Stand For Children was a big part of Helen's life for 24 years, and her seat will be well used by families to sit looking over the city. Donations can be made via givealittle.co.nz/cause/helens-seat As per Helen's wishes, a private cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Helen's life will be held on Saturday, October 15, at 10.00am, at Stand For Children, 23 Glenelg Spur, Hillsborough, Christchurch.
