Gwendolyn Fooshee Obituary

Gwendolyn "Dale" Carroll Fooshee passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, in New Albany, Mississippi. Born on October 12, 1942, in Selma, Alabama, Gwendolyn's journey began as the cherished daughter of Herbert and Dixie Bell Perry Carroll. Her early years in Alabama were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family, a foundation that would guide her throughout her life. She carried the values of love and kinship into her own family when she married her beloved husband, Billy Fooshee. Together, they built a life rich in love and laughter, blessed with their children, Laura Sandlin (Bobby), Larry Fooshee, and Michael Fooshee both of New Albany.

Gwendolyn's nurturing heart extended beyond her immediate family to her siblings, Billie Hughes (Howard) of Pineville, Louisiana, Grady Carroll (Beverly) of Texas, and Anthony Earl Carroll (late wife Virginia) of Georgia. She was a beacon of kindness and strength to her three grandchildren, Kacey Crocker (Kirstyn), Kyle Crocker (Shelby), and Kailea Barkley (James), and her six great-grandchildren, who will carry her legacy forward.

Her professional life was marked by her dedication to caring for others, as evidenced by her achievement in obtaining her LNP license. Gwendolyn's work ethic and her ability to connect with people were hallmarks of her career. She was a woman of deep Christian faith, which guided her in every aspect of her life. Gwendolyn's love for her Lord and Savior was evident in her every action, and she was a shining example of what it means to live a life anchored in belief.

Gwendolyn's interests were a reflection of her gentle soul. She collected glass animal figurines with a discerning eye, each piece a cherished part of her home. Her love for reading allowed her to explore worlds beyond her own, and she often shared the stories that touched her heart with those around her.

Those who knew Gwendolyn will remember her as strong, kind, courageous, and gentle. She faced life's challenges with a quiet strength and a courage that inspired everyone she met. Her caring nature was felt by all, from her husband and children to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her son Michael Fooshee, and her sisters Diane Rogers (Roy) and Nancy Vandenburg. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by the many lives she touched.

Services to honor such a life well lived will be on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 1:00pm with a visitation prior from 10:00am until the start of the service at 1:00 all at United Funeral Service. Burial will be at Ingomar Cemetery
