Many surfs and laughs were had with Kempy. Looking back to our misspent youth, many of us are now thankful that he was Mr. Sensible. When we were ready to jump, Kempy would hold us back and make us think about things which probably saved a few of us from harm. I am so happy that he came to Taranaki and I got to know him. I agree with those that spoke at his memorial and know that he touched us here in Taranaki in the surfing community as he did in the fishing community around Christchurch.
