Grant Gordon (Woody):
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Nurse Maude Hospice, aged 79 years. Loved husband of Fay. Much loved father, father-in-law, grandfather, and loved by his nieces and nephews. Respected life member of the Hornby Rugby League Club. Special thanks to the amazing Nurse Maude Hospice and Amyes Road Medical Centre staff who cared for Grant over the last month. The Funeral Service for Grant will be held at the Hornby Rugby League Rooms, Lesley Park, Hornby, on Wednesday, April 5, at 2.30pm. Messages to be addressed to the family of late Grant Woodgate, c/- Hope Funerals, 27 Amyes Road, Hornby, Christchurch 8042.

My dad thought of Grant like a brother. He got along well with Grant over the years. When they caught up over a half G, it was always a good time. I will always remember Grant giving me a hard time for playing rugby when all the cousins played league. I´ve felt super close to my cousins all these years and my heart goes out to them. I know what it feels like to lose a Woodgate father. They were hard but loving too. Wishing you all the love in the world from all of us in Canada. Special love to my Aunt Faye for putting up with him all these years!!!
