Great memories of living across the road from the dairy. You met my baby girl and years down the track was always at the dairy. I chatted about my girls. You always greeted me by name then say "what's a happening".kind friendly down to earth safely missed

My deepest sympathies to Grants Family. Grant you are a true legend & were always there for so many, you are so truly respected & so deeply missed by all. Never a dull moment when I popped into your dairy, always up for a laugh, you never forgot anyone, always asking after peoples families. Thank you for being the best boss ever to my daughter Beth, she loved going to work & from her stories, many a prank was played on her. will miss you greatly -Kaye Gibson & Family

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Grant. Grant was truly the best dairy owner Timaru will ever have!
I worked in the pharmacy next door 30 plus years ago, they were great days, there was always a trick to play and fun to be had with Grant next door.
Many years later when I had my family I still used to pop in to see Grant, my family always remember Grant fondly especially my youngest son Max, who used to always want to go to see Grant when he was a little preschooler, Grant would give Max a pile of outdated car magazines, Max used to be so excited to go and see Grant out the back of the shop and Grant always had the time to give.
Wendy and family my heart goes out for you all, I know you have very difficult times ahead made even worse with the current situation, take care of each other, laugh, cry and stay strong xxxx

I am saddened to hear of Grant's passing . What a shock. It is lovely to read all the positive comments about him though and I wish to add my thoughts . I was a teacher at Marchwiel/Oceanview Heights for 10 years. Grant offered to pass on the old magazines to me for my blokes - fishing, cars, sporting etc. Every Thursday after play the students woud be lined up at my desk waiting for Grant's magazines. I don't think he realised how eager these kids were but also how their interest in reading grew and how their reading ages increased because of this. Grant you were a legend and you will be missed. My love to Wendy and boys. Regards Heather Hinton (Mrs H)

Thinking of you Wendy, Andrew, Matthew & families. Hazel & family xx

It was such a shock to hear that Grant had died. I can still see his cheery face coming into Westpac Northtown most days. We would have a chat , he usually had a funny comment or chuckle with Fiona, Donna or Irene . We will miss him dearly.

An absolute legend of Marchwiel. His twenty cent mixtures made the way home from school all the more enjoyable. I moved back here after about 22 years and he still recognised me, asking after mum, who had cancer at the time. Just a few months back I was telling him about my dad's issues with Parkinsons/dementia, to which he was sympathetic before saying 'Not gonna happen to us, is it!' and we had a chuckle. He was as much a fixture round here as the trees in Marchwiel Park and the Hydro Grand. Condolences to the family, and long live Grant's Dairy, into which he invested so much energy.

It was sad to hear the news ,as Grant had been a familiar face since 1989 and he had watched my 3 kids grow from babies to adults since we lived in Marchwiel for years. He always had a smile on his face and an ear to listen..he was one of the top ,most genuine guys you would ever meet and I'm glad I managed to catch up with him 20 years later and he remembered me and asked about my kids by name..Rest in peace Grant..you will be missed...condolences to your family ♡

Very sad to hear of Grants sudden passing. I remember when Grant was the boy working for Des. I remember lining up getting my mays pie, pkt of chips and donut at lunch time when I was at Marchwiel School.
I can also remember Mum (Daph Toa) going up Christmas morning to get the cream she said she forgot. But I think there may have been a little drink to celebrate out the back as well.
More recently I would see Grant at Glenview Kindergarten when he came to get Finley. I was impressed that he remembered me. Top bloke! Very sad. Kia kaha Stevenson Family. From Missi and Daph Toa
