It is rare in life to get the opportunity to work alongside such a man of Grants ability and knowledge. He new everything and wasn't shy with sharing his view. He was a dedicated father to Bri who he spoke endlessly about and who was obviously someone he loved dearly and was devoted to. His role was demanding and more than most of us could manage he mastered it with ease and had a vast amount of ongoing things going on in his mind at any one time. Thank you Grunter for sharing some of your time with me particularly those later years of my career both at St Asaph St and at the Justice precinct. It is often said that a person will be missed but in your case you are missed and will be for a long time.

Mr Grant!! Oh maaaan... I´m gonna miss you! Even though I´m on the other side of the world now, I will miss just knowing you are there on the end of a text or a video call for some of our usual banter! This world has lost a true diamond and there will be a huge hole left behind....you were one in million who was always on a mission..at 100mph!
Rest easy now!
Love from your friend, Miss Nic x

"GRUNTER"
Thank you for the 30yrs we spent together as work colleagues.
I will always remember the daily ritual at 1430hrs in the Cafeteria you shifting the table so it was perfectly positioned, before the rest
of the Scene of Crime Office staff arrived for afternoon tea, plus your two pieces of shortbread on the table.
`Memories are Forever´ my dear friend.

First met Grunter in 1997 when he was in the central workshop. A great worker, who was good natured and pragmatic and a great laugh. Such a loss for his family and his Police family.

Thank you for all the fond and definitely funny memories! Grant spent a lot of time here in Marlborough and we all looked forward to seeing him on long weekends and his seasonal Christmas holidays.!! Heaps of laughter and good times with his funny sayings and wisecracks!
He recently helped put up my picket fence and it was so funny that he was working 5 metres away in the middle of the countryside and he still locked his car! He is leaving a big gap here and will be missed by many in the community! RIP my friend.

Grunter you were one in a million.
My fond memories of him
-his Suzuki Swift rolling into work, and then Grunter exiting the vehicle at full speed on his way to start the day
-he once showed me a pedometer which had recorded him doing 7.5 km in an 8 hour shift, inside the Justice Precinct and he'd never left the building;
-watching him spreading a ton of butter on his compulsory two slices of white toast in the mornings;
-the CIB nco's hiding his special spoon he used to eat his cereal with and watching his reaction;
-finally seeing the new caravan at his place.
-his ability to be funny without trying and not realising it.

Thank you for being a wonderful friend to me for the past couple of years, I will cherish the time we spent together putting the world right. We often joked how similar we were, the world will certainly be a different place without you in it. I feel privileged to have been able to support you at the end, thank you for being you. You did everything at speed, but seriously you didn´t have to leave this world that way too.
Remember it´s not goodbye but see you later xxx
