Graham was a funny, friendly man. I enjoyed some great mountaineering with him in the 80s. A sad loss for his friends and family.

So sorry I cannot be there today to farewell my dear brother in law who gave up his homeland and all he held dear to travel with my sister in her hour of need to NZ. Farewell Graham Alderton, you were indeed a man of honour. May your family find comfort in the fact that you were respected and loved in your new homeland and although we knew that your love for your own homeland was forever calling you back, you held dear to your principles and for that we will be forever grateful. You loved the mountains of NZ and travelled far and wide over those hills forever exploring their valleys and plains sharing their wonderful views of Canterbury and beyond for us on your facebook page. We as a family will be ever grateful for your care of our dear sister in her time of need and you family can be sure that you will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace great man, you are now on the highest mountain.

I Knew Graham for many years, to say that he was a larger than life character is truly an understatement. I feel privileged to have been in his company in a professional capacity, but more so as a friend.I will miss his amazing sense of humour and his enormous smile which was usually a precursor to one of his hilarious pranks or jokes.
