Graeme was my best friend at Waimataitai School in Timaru from 1953-1956. We were both keen on sport, especially rugby and cricket, more as followers than players, and I spent a lot of time after school at his parent's house on a street corner of Waimataitai Road. We lost touch after that as I began high school in Dunedin, although I returned to Timaru in 1959. I did see him at my father's funeral in Dunedin in 1959 (my father taught him in Standard 5, part of Timaru's record primary school class of 56, all boys)! His sister Alison later stayed with my mother in Dunedin as a boarder and I also remember his older brother Kevin, who had the largest collection of pop music 45's I had ever seen. This was before the Beatles. Graeme was a very pleasant person as a boy and I'm sure he remained so. I now live in Adelaide.
