Dear Paul, Merryl, family and Grant, Tim and I send you all our deepest sympathy to you all of Gordon´s passing. When we shifted to Nelson with our parents Jack and Shirley in 1968, I´m sure we were real country bumpkins. I think Gordon and Margaret were surprised when Tim and I would yell at Dad to come for dinner he in fact he was only in the shed making beehives. We were use to him being no where near our house at Bluff Station. The lovely dinners we would have at your house. Margaret always did everything perfectly, and her crispy roast potatoes yum. Gordon arranged for my first weekend job as a college girl at Harcourt Orchards and he allowed me to use your Vauxhall car for my driving license test which I passed at the age of 15 yrs 1month. Dad would have been working down theWest Coast that week. How things have changed.
Kindest Regards Tim Varley and Virginia Hogarth (I´ve been in Gisborne for 5 yrs now lovely to be near Andrew and family and Elizabeth here too. Take care x

Our deepest sympathy to Paul and Grant and their families. It was my pleasure, and an honour, to be friends with Gordon from the time we commenced Addington School in 1941. Gordon was Best Man at my Wedding in 1961 and I was also Best Man at Gordons Wedding in the same year. Apart from recent years, due to health reasons, we kept in close contact, and it is sad to hear of his passing on.
(I have added a photo of Gordon (left in photo)
when he was fifteen.)
From Margaret & Alan Scott and family.
