Gordon James:
Peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2023; in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Jeanne for 61 years. Loving father and father-in-law of Michael and Kirsten Forrester, Moira, Catherine and the late Calum Maclean, Robert and Toni Patterson-Gallagher, Peter and Jeanne Snelling, Stephen and Sarah. Beloved Granddad of Ronan, Angus, James, Daniel and Claire; Benjamin and Martha; Connor and Molly-Jane; Lucy and Gabriel; and Iris. Son of Michael James (Jim) and Julia Gallagher. Loved brother of Noreen, Pat and Pauline. Life member of the Kaikorai Brass Band and founding member of the Dunedin Musicians Club. Grateful thanks to Msgr John Harrison, the wonderful staff of both Bradford Manor and Summerset at Bishopscourt and all who cared for him. A Requiem Mass for Gordon will be held at 1.30pm, on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at St Joseph's Cathedral, Rattray Street, Dunedin, followed by a private burial. There will be a Rosary for Gordon in the Cathedral at 7.00pm on Wednesday January 18. In lieu of flowers, donations to St Vincent de Paul would be appreciated and may be left at the Mass.
