I had the pleasure of meeting Gordon on a couple of occasions when he visited Preston's Road & the home he built here for his Family. We had lovely chats about his early years & the history of my home & the happy memories he had of his time in Redwood.
I have a copy of an article published in the Press in 2012 about Gordon & his involvement with the Redwood Beautifying Association.
In the article it states, "It was the Redwoods that had, after agitation from Gordon, given the suburb it's name".
Thank you Gordon.
Rest in peace.

When Gordon climbed on our van for day-trips, the mood would light up and Gordon would head to the back so he could have a lady each side and the van would rock with humour. We ended up calling the back seat 'the naughty seat' but he was always the gentleman. I used to kid him that he was the England goalie in the 1966 World Cup.
So sad when he headed north and even sadder today but hoping he enjoyed his last 6 years there.
Gone but most definitely not forgotten.
Honoured to have met him.
