Gerard STOCKS Obituary

Unexpectantly and peacefully, following a short illness, on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Christchurch Hospital, aged 61 years. Dearly loved son of the late George (Ray) Stocks and Anita Moynihan-Stocks. Dearly loved brother of John Stocks, the late Kathryn Stocks, and Genevieve Radley (nee Stocks). Dearly loved uncle of Christian Stocks, Charlotte Radley and Jackson Stocks (Brisbane, Australia). Nephew of Zita Moynihan and cousin to the Moynihan, O'Reilly and Satherley families (Auckland), and to Heather Cowie, Gordon Macadam, and Ann Bradley. Gerard was instrumental in the Rare Book Buying and Selling Community in Christchurch and NZ, a keen book collector, he loved antique books and musical instruments, especially rare first edition children's books, and he displayed a keen love of gardening, the environment and a love of the planet.

"This planet has lost an angel".

Messages may be sent to Gerard's family, c/o PO Box 10335, Christchurch 8145. A celebration of Gerard's life will be held in the Canterbury Chapel and Crematorium, corner of Keighleys Road and Linwood Avenue, Christchurch, on Friday, March 15, at 12noon.
