SCHAAPVELD, Gerard Anton Bernard (Gerry) - Gerry passed away peacefully with his daughter Steph at his side, on July 21, 2014, at Palm Grove Hospital, Christchurch, aged 78 years. A most precious, cheerful and kind husband to Elaine. A supportive and loving dad and father-in-law of Paul and Robynn, Robin and Jayne, Steph, and Phil and Leeanne. Loved granddad of Letitia, Joshua, and Jamie; Tayla, Makenzi, and Adam; and Ena. Great-grandad of Tia. A loved brother and brother-in-law of Willie and Jack (Netherlands), Meta and the late Burt, Hettie and the late Ben (Auckland), Peter (deceased) and Thera, Herman (deceased) and Margaret, Franz (deceased) and Rita. Loved son-in-law of Peter (deceased) and Unice. Sincere thanks to Dr Phil Gray and the staff at Shirley Medical Centre, Mr Gibbons and Mr Burt, for their kindness and exceptional specialist care of Gerry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerry's memory to the Order of St John (Canterbury) at the Service. A Funeral Service for Gerry will be held at the John Rhind Chapel, entry from Whitmore and London Streets, Richmond, Christchurch, Tomorrow (Friday), at 1.00pm; private cremation thereafter.
