We first met George back in 1996 when my husband Matthew started working at Defiance Flour Mill, where George was a builder/maintenance person. We used to have long chats about Edinburgh, as we both came from there. Such a lovely friendly man. George, I hope you are having a wee dram up there, love to Margaret and all the family xx

Our sincere condolences on your loss to Colin, Margaret and family. George and Rita were very popular tutors who came to the Coast on many occasions to take day schools and George continued to visit with his overseas students and took club night dancing when it coincided with these visits. He is remembered with much fondness for his wit and easy going charm.

I was so sorry to hear of Geordie“s ( George's) passing. We were in the same Scottish country dance class at Summer School for a number of years and he was always so cheerful and full of fun with stories to tell. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Joyce McLachlan.

I will miss my Geordie friend very much - I loved hearing stories of his life in Scotland, the way he recited the names of all his brothers and sisters (in order of birth), playing music and dancing with him, his lovely singing voice, our woodwork lessons, that photo of you playing the cat (and not the bagpipes), hearing about all those international students you looked after ... and so much more. Thanks for so many lunches, cuppas, outings, gigs and just spending time together George.
