Geoffrey CAROLAN Obituary

Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his wife and two children, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. A much loved husband of Jo, and devoted father of Jessica, and Nathan. Beloved son of Ngaere and Don, cherished brother of Angela and Richard, and a dear uncle to the Carolan and Kearney families. The wider circle of family and friends, both in New Zealand and beyond, are left with sadness at his passing, but also with gratitude, enriched for having been a part of his life. Messages may be addressed to: The family of the late Geoffrey Carolan, c/- PO Box 39001, Christchurch 8545. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated, and can be made in Geoffrey's name at: cancer.org.nz. A service for Geoff will be held in our Oaklands Chapel, corner of Halswell Junction and Wigram Roads, Halswell, on Thursday, October 24, at 2.30pm.

Got to know of your passing only today Geoff.
Too soon to go - the world surely needed more of you.
I owe you big time for all the learnings on legal negotiations on clauses in financing documents - all that I absorbed as a seeker of knowledge in so many discussions debates and arguments at your office at Peninsula. I always remembered you when bankers thought I was a lawyer when they heard me argue on legal aspects. And always thought I would never have been there but for you.
Thanks for everything Geoff.

What a wonderful send-off for an amazing man. I'm so glad I could attend Geoff's service to say goodbye. He was a fantastic friend to me and all the other Aberdeen Rugby Club players when he was in Hong Kong. He will be missed deeply but the wonderful memories will live on. All the best to Jo and the rest of Geoff's family.
