As a member of the Christchurch Scrabble Club I came to know Gabrielle at club days and at various tournaments. She was always friendly and cheerful, and very caring. If I missed a couple of club meetings she would call me on the phone to see how I was. My husband met her at the airport after we returned from one tournament on Norfolk Island, and after that he always asked me if I had a game against Gabrielle at the club that day, and when he came to collect me in later years he was always happy to see her.

What a shock! I first meet Gabrielle in 1952 travelling on the same Bus to school. We attended different schools Lagmhor & Westerfield. We would met playing inter-school sports. She was a great Cricketer and played some great shots. Gabrielle was a lovely Girl that liked her own space. RIP Gabrielle. My regards and thoughts to her brother Ronald.

Dear Otto, Heidi and John,
I have just watched your beautiful celebration of Gabrielle and memories come flooding back - the first swim of the season on Show day at Okains Bay whatever the weather, our daughters at Huntsbury Playcentre together. Heidi you would have made her proud today. Our friendship goes back a long way. I will miss her.

Christchurch Scrabble Club members are so saddened by Gabrielle´s sudden death. Gabrielle was a practical and pragmatic person but very kind and caring with it. She radiated a vitality and energy which meant she approached all aspects of her life with vigour, even Scrabble, probably one of her quietest activities. She was a valued club member who never complained about the tiles she drew out of the bag, whether they were good or bad, and she willingly played any opponent, no matter their ability. She got stuck in and helped when needed and did it without the need for acknowledgement. Gabrielle´s quiet presence will be sorely missed by all our members and we pass on our sympathy to Gabrielle's family.

To Otto and family
Loosing Gabrielle is such a huge sadness and your grief will be great. She was a lovely person and I am glad I knew her - we both had an interest in shoes! and as a member of the U3A film group I valued her input
to the discussions and her friendship at meetings.
Surround yourselves with the comfort of your family and friends.
With my prayers and sympathy - Margaret

BOLT,
Gabrielle (nee Wright):
Passed away in Christchurch Public Hospital early in the morning of Saturday March 12, 2022, having not been conscious since experiencing a crash with a Metro Bus in Halswell in the morning of March 1. She leaves behind a distraught family. For me, she has been a great and supportive friend since about 1965. The world has lost a vivacious, energetic and lively person. I will miss her greatly.
Rest in peace now,
dear friend.
Brian Swale, (Clyde).
