We sent a lengthy one earlier but, strangely, it didn't get published. We then sent a short generated version which got published. However, we still feel obliged to say more about Angelo.
Upul is a very good friend. When we decided to visit Sydney some years back he extended an invitation to us to visit Christchurch. He further decided to accommodate us in his father's house. That was how we met Angelo!!! Angelo, as we used to call him, was fun to be with. He opened his house to use for the time that we visited. He would chat heartily with us, advise us and exchange a lot of banters with us. We so much became part of Angelo that Kofi would occasionally call him all the way from Accra, Ghana, to continue the banter. Indeed, we were planning another visit in the coming years to enjoy Angelo's company. When Kofi was afflicted with a neurogical problems which could not easily be diagnosed in Ghana, Angelo readily offered solutions after reviewing his MRI films and directed him on what to do. It is really a pity that we could not share another hilarious moment with him again. We are heart broken and even tuned in to the burial service all the way from Orlando, Florida, USA to bid our friend, father and brother farewell. Our condolences go to Upul and his siblings. May the Most High lead him safely home beyond the veil

Dr A was the most memorable person. His knowledge and support guided us through our days and lives of spinal injury. He was truly a gift from the gods (I'm sure he'd love that!) and it was an honor and privilege to know him and share some of our journey of life with him, our thoughts are with his family and friends on this sad occasion.

My deepest sympathies to his family. We were together in medical school and subsequently during our internship. A very close friend indeed shared much fun together and never had a dull moment when he was around. We surely will miss you, my friend.

My heartfelt sincere and Deepest sympathies to Upul, Nelunka, Benjamin and Magnus. My condolences are also extended to Savi and Liz. I have known Anjelo since our medical school days back in Sri Lanka. Since graduating we worked for a year at the same hospital and then emigrated to Taranaki NZ in July 1971 each a week apart. Again we had a very close association for over 3 years working at the New Plymouth Public hospital and later at the brand new NP base hospital. we parted company in 1974 Anjelo to ChCh and me to The UK for post graduate work. Since returning back to Newplymouth I´ve maintained regular contact with Anjelo over the phone and infrequent visits to CHCh. Unfortunately my last visit was a month before the ChCh earthquake when we had a good yarn over a meal. He was indeed a very genuine friend and a confidant to me and I deeply value the friendship he extended to me. No doubt I could fill an entire book with anecdotes and the antics we got into in our youth. Suffice to say I will miss him terribly, may you be safe in the embrace of the lord. May the lord shine his face on you and give you Peace. Rest In Peace Anjelo, You´ve earned it. Annesley

My deepest condolences to family and friends.
Dr Angelo was the most sweet, charming, and humble man I have ever met. His smile and charm would light up the darkest of rooms. His sense of humour and laugh were cheeky and infectious. Not great with computers but extremely knowledgeable with everything else. This is a man who will be sadly missed by all and his absence in the world has left a large hole.

I have come to know Angelo through his immediate family. It is sad to have lost such a worthy member of the community who has made a great contribution to the field of his interest. He surely must have completed his life´s journey, to his heart´s content. While all the worldly accomplishments that came in the form of honour, success and recognition, during his well spent life, are left behind, his precious spiritual gifts must have definitely joined him in his very next journey in life. Friends, colleagues, and those near and dear shall miss him, terribly, no doubt. Surviving Angelo, are his loving family to whom my heartfelt condolences are offered herewith. Requiescat in pace!

Dr Angelo was one of the kindest and loveliest gentleman I have ever met. He always had a smile for everyone and was never too busy to answer questions. A wonderful wonderful man who's passing will leave a massive hole in the lives of those left behind.
