Ewing CARTWRIGHT Obituary

With great sadness, Chuckles passed away peacefully at Christchurch Hospital on December 26, 2025, aged 63 years. Dearly loved son of the late John and Winnie Cartwright. Loved brother of Karen, loved uncle of Jade, and Logan. Well respected gentle and humble friend of many. The family would like to thank the staff in ICU at Christchurch Hospital for their wonderful care of Chuckles. Messages to the Cartwright family, c/- PO Box 10345, Christchurch 8145. A private cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Chuckles life will be held at The Rolly Pub in Rolleston on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at 1.00pm.

I was shocked and sad to hear of the passing of our colleague and friend, Chuckles. For eight years, I had the privilege of working alongside him at Ritchies, and then continued the friendship for many more years beyond the workplace. He was a quiet soul, never one to say much, but his presence brought a steady calm to every shift. Those who knew him understood his dry humour and that familiar look that said he´d happily join you for a cold beer after a long day.

He will be remembered with genuine fondness by all of us who shared time with him. His gentle nature, steady reliability leave a lasting mark.

Rest in peace, Chuckles - may you and PK enjoy a few cold ones together once again.
