Eugene FITZGERALD Obituary

On May 5, 2025, peacefully at Summerset Village Avonhead; aged 96 years. Dearly loved husband of Judy, much loved father and father-in-law of David and Lisa. Proud Grandad of Logan and Georgia. Loved brother and brother-in-law of the late Eddy and Margaret Fitzgerald and the late Margaret and Frank Kearney. Loved brother-in-law of Lesley and the late Russell, John and Dawn. Loved uncle and friend to many. An amazing family man but, above all, a love of helping people develop through his roles in management training, consulting and recruitment over many years. At Gene's request, a private cremation has been held. Special thanks to Nurse Maude and the Care Centre team at Summerset Avonhead.

I will always treasure my time with Gene (Captain) which was my nickname for him. He taught me so much and helped me to grow as a better person. He was just such a wonderful person to know. My heart goes out to Judy and his family. Rest in peace my friend. Gary Jones

I would like to celebrate the amazing man that has helped so many people in many ways . No problems were too small or too large for him to tackle . He had a big influence on my life through work and family and I count myself fortunate to have known him . Condolences and best wishes to his family , be assured he will be fondly remembered by all who met him .

Sad to hear of Eugene's passing from Liz on Wednesday. The Fitzgerald's were family friends of Murdie Cameron (Tiroiti, Hyde) a long time ago and Eugene would visit Hyde to see Eddy 30+ years ago. Condolences to family
