Esther MCKENZIE Obituary
Esther Elizabeth:
On Tuesday, May 5, 2015, peacefully at Ngaio Marsh Retirement Village, in her 105th year. Loved wife of the late Graeme. Loved mother of Judith and the late Henry McKinlay, and Alison and Bruce Hansen. Special grandmother of Jane and Andrew, Tom and Pam, Richard and Rosalind, Luke and Siobhan, Kate and Andrew, Peter and Monika, and Andrew and Jane. Loving great-grandmother of all her great-grandchildren. Dearly loved cousin of Dorothy Eckhoff. Grateful thanks to the staff at Ngaio Marsh Retirement Village for their kindness and care. A Service to celebrate Esther's long life will be held in our Westpark Chapel, 467 Wairakei Road, Burnside, Tomorrow (Tuesday), at 10.00am.

Esther was an amazing lady. She walked briskly, even with a walker she still walked briskly, no old doddery person here. She always had a smile. Full of vitality. She has given me hope that I might make it to an older age than I was contemplating. May you be surrounded by blooming flowers forever. RIP. Garry - one of the gardeners at NM.

When asked how she attained her great age, Esther simply answered, "I just wake up every morning, and keep breathing".
