Eric PENNINGTON Obituary
Much loved and deeply cherished husband of Karen, beloved and incredible dad and father-in-law of Rebecca, Naiomi and Daniel, Daniel, Sara and the late Tim, Chris and Ange, and William, adored Pop of Samuel, James, Abby, Emma, Joey, Jesse, Ellie and Caleb, loved brother of Sheldine, Doryan and Nelida. Eric was the heart and anchor of his family - a man of deep faith who served many organisations with dedication and quietly helped everyone he could. Eric's Funeral Service will be held in the South-West Baptist Church, 244 Lyttelton Street, Spreydon, on Friday, January 30, at 10.00am. Interment thereafter at Avonhead Memorial Cemetery, 140 Hawthornden Road, Avonhead.

Eric was a member of the Men's Harmony Group led by Colin Richardson at Spreydon Baptist in the 90s. He was able to sing most parts, including female ones!

It is with great sadness and disbelief, Eric died suddenly while on holiday in Nelson on January 22, 2026. Loved and admired brother of Doryan, brother-in-law of Robert, and uncle of Jasmine and Ryan. We will forever reflect on the legacy you have blessed the Pennington family with. Your heart loved deeply, it knew joy, it survived tragedy, and in its fullness, it carried you gently from this life.
