Eric GORDON Obituary
Tragically passed away in a vehicle accident on Friday, October 2, 2020, at the age of 36. Beloved partner of Mina. Much loved son of Ingrid and the late Stuart. Precious little brother and brother-in-law of Donald and Angela, and adored uncle of Eloise and Daniel. Loved step-son of Gillian. Eric died doing what he loved - riding his motorbike.
There will forever be a six-foot seven shaped hole in our hearts.
A celebration of Eric's life will be held at the Sugar Loaf Chapel of Howard & Gannon Funerals, cnr Lee Road and Gloucester Street, Taradale, Napier, on Monday, October 12, 2020, at 11.00am, followed by a private cremation. Hi, I had the pleasure of working with Eric when he first started at NZAS in the NZAS Engineering Department. Eric was a very likeable young man and I was lucky enough that our paths crossed many times over the years that Eric worked at NZAS. I have many fond memories of Eric that I will now cherish. NZAS staff whom knew Eric were very shocked by Eric's death as of course I was. In addition, many have some great stories to tell about Eric and some that are better not retold at this time.
I was in the Hawkes Bay recently where I was lucky enough to reconnect with a friend of mine whom Eric worked with in Napier. From this, on the 30th September I managed to contact Eric and had a lovely chat about the time Eric had spent at NZAS. We talked about what had been happening at NZAS and about people Eric knew at NZAS. We ended with plans to catch up again when I was next in the Hawkes Bay. It was like turning back the clock. Sadly, this will now never happen. Eric made me laugh so many times and in so many ways.
I am extremely proud to have known Eric and so pleased that he touched my life in so many wonderful ways. No doubt, you will all have wonderful memories of Eric that you will cherish it the future.
