Our family's dear friend, Sr Enid Lagan, has passed away. Sister taught Maths to Mary at Villa Maria and was her form teacher. We have always credited Sister with helping Mary to become Dux of the school, through her wonderful teaching. When Sister was in Tonga Mum saw her name in the Marist Mesenger and we wrote to her. Since then we have have been blessed to be able to keep in very close contact with Sister Enid. She got to know Mary's family, Kerry. Lockie, Scott & Shannon and even came to Mum's funeral in her electric wheelchair via maxi taxi. A very gracious and loving friend, so wise and so full of love for God. May she rest in peace.

So so sorry to hear of the passing of Sister Enid. My 92 year old mother Joan (née Anderson) is her first cousin. Sister Enid's father and my maternal grandmother Veronica (Edna) Lagan were brother and sister.
I am thankful to have reunited my mother with her cousin (and their last remaining aunt) many years ago. I will treasure the photo of that meeting and I was planning to go to visit her once lockdown was over. Just a week ago I sent copies of old photos plus some family questions which sadly will forever remain mysteries.
Rest peacefully Sister Enid. Your memory will live on in the lives you touched.

LAGAN,
Sister Enid Therese:
Died peacefully on April 18, 2020 at Nazareth House, Christchurch. Dearly loved daughter of the late Anastasia and Charles Lagan, dearly loved ‘baby sister’ and sister-in-law of Lovena Mary (deceased), Nora and Alf Anderson (both deceased), Pat and Noreen (both deceased), Bern (deceased) and Kay, Fay (Sister Frances Marie), and Garry and Audrey (both deceased). Treasured aunty of all her Lagan and Anderson nieces and nephews and their families. No matter what life threw at you, you embraced it totally, always seizing the silver lining of any clouds. We’ll miss your warm smile which made us feel we were the only people who mattered in the world, your gentle but razor-sharp wit and your countless stories.
Free of pain and immobility, it’s now time for you to kick up your heels. Godspeed.
