Ellen SMITH Obituary
SMITH, Ellen (nee Harnett):
Passed away peacefully at Cashmere View Care Home, Christchurch, in the presence of her family, on January 5, 2022; aged 88 years. Dearly loved wife and soulmate of Peter for 65 years. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Sue and Brian Hunter, Marty and Vanessa Smith, Ben and Lois Smith, Julie and Kerry Howden, and Rachel and Mike Scott. Dearly loved Mama of her 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A special thanks to Cashmere View for their love and care of Ellen. Please allow plenty of time to have your Pass verified to allow you to attend. Please note masks are mandatory in the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dementia Canterbury would be appreciated and may be made at her Mass.

A Requiem Mass for Ellen will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Grays Lane, Kaikoura, on Wednesday, January 12 at 1.00pm, followed by interment in Kaikoura Cemetery. Rosary will be held in the Church, on Tuesday, January 11 at 7.00pm.

So sad to hear of Ellen's passing. She was an amazing wife mother, friend and community person. She had endless drive and energy...an inspiration. Our sympathy to all the family but especially Peter who has lost his best friend and soul mate. A life well lived

I have just read of Ellen"s passing and I got quite a shock.
Ellen was a lovely Lady and we always remember her. Ellen catered for my 50th Birthday at the Why Not Cafe
and she did a wonderful job.
