Ellen Dougall Ely, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home the morning of July 12, 2025, after a long and gratifying life. She was born in Syracuse, NY and attended Central High School. She worked for many years at the Addis Co and as a teacher's aide at Enders Rd Elementary School. She loved caring for her family and her home and was an excellent cook and an award-winning pie baker.
Ellen was a member of the Community Christian Reformed Church, where she served as a deacon as well as being a dedicated Sunday school teacher. She also attended Pompey Community Church and the Syracuse Reformed Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Ellen (Barry) Rosales and Margaret (George) Hueber; grandchildren, Jessica Ramsey, Joshua (Jamie) Rosales, Sara (Phil) Dahling, Mary (Chris) Treib, Kathleen (Sean) Mills, Karen (Nate) Iamaio; and 16 great-grandchildren, Jackson (Emily) Wright, Molly Wright, Liam Ramsey, JD and Kaitlyn Rosales, Taylor and Mackenzie Dahling, Mundy, Shelby, and Aubry Treib, Grant and Meghan Mills, and Elly, Carly, Gabby, and Jacob Iamaio.
She was predeceased by her dear and precious husband, Ed Ely, as well as two sisters and their spouses.
Family and friends may call Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Pompey Community Church, 2555 Berwyn Rd, LaFayette NY. The service will follow the calling hours at the church. Private burial will be in Manlius Village Cemetery.
