We wish to inform the friends of John Gavars that he has departed to live with our Lord on November 6, 2025. Many thanks to the staff at Wesley Care for all their loving care of John. Messages to the family of John Gavars c/- PO Box 26051 North Avon, Christchurch 8148. In accordance with John's wishes a private cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service for John will be held at the Wesley Care Chapel, 91 Harewood Road, on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 2.00pm, you are welcome to join us.

Aivars was known in our family as our Uncle as he was our father´s best friend. They met at intermediate in Christchurch. He looked after me as a child, and gave me some wonderful books. A kind, intelligent, gentleman, who came here with his father from Latvia in the 1950s. Our thoughts are with Incle Aivars whanau and friends. Cheryl Crooks for the Crooks family.
