Dear Christine, Celine and family
So sorry to learn about the passing of dearest Aunty Eileen. I will so miss her, despite the distance of time and geography. You guys more than anyone know the beauty and love of your mother. Her family was the passion of her life! My heartfelt sympathies to all of you on your loss.
I will fondly always remember her from our days in Nairobi, Kenya as a special, elegant and beautiful lady, and wonderful warm memories persist with me from before and after her wedding to beloved Uncle Inicie. No matter what the circumstances, she had a brilliant endearing smile and infectious laughter, a giving personality, her resilience and resoluteness in facing challenging times, her ability to exude true warmth and happiness and embrace people and make them feel so wanted and special. There are so many other powerful adjectives one could use to describe her !
I so remember her fondness for the patent leather flattie shoes, and her propensity towards clothes that were navy blue. Gosh, years ago I even saved a photograph of her when she had done a brief stint at modelling. I distinctly remember the mischievous smile and twinkling eyes when she teased me and my sister, Yvette. Lovely times in the Nairobi flat, lying on a floor mat watching fish in the home aquarium (instead of TV), feeding that little baby Celine with crushed peas and apple sauce. Ahh the wonderful memories!
To be sure, a wonderful brilliant light has gone out. God Bless dearest Aunty Eileen. May her Soul rest in peace.. and in laughter!
Yvor Fernandez (Aunty Eileen's page boy!) Angie and Kyle, and on behalf of Yvette and her daughter Kezia.
