Helen BAILEY Obituary

It is with both tears and laughter that her beloved family announces that this week, Helen Bailey has finally quit smoking. Beloved wife of Mike, and adored matriarch of a joyful and loving blended family. She will be remembered and loved always by her children Dallas, Mike and Georgia; by the children she loved as her own, Andrew and Katherine; by her grandchildren Maisey, William and Hollie, and her honorary grandchildren Olive, Finn, Lochie, Francis, Jimmy and Lewis. Beloved sister and sister-in-law of Joan, Lynn and Alex, Lindy and Don, and Donald (dec), and dearly missed by all the lucky ones welcomed into this wild and wonderful family – Haidi, Lora, Pink and Alex. Helen passed away peacefully at Nelson Tasman Hospice on February 21, 2026, aged 67. Her laugh was loved, she was beyond welcoming, warm and entirely herself until the very end.

I met Helen at Nelson College for Girls and reconnected with her when she volunteered for Nelson Foodbank. She was my other Friday girl and showed me what to do. We had a lot of laughs. Very sorry to see of her passing but will remember her broad smile and loud laugh. Thinking of her family at their time of loss
