Sad to hear Fr Earl has passed away. He will be remembered as a great servant of the Catholic Church in many parishes throughout New Zealand, for the gentle way he ministered to parishioners and for the way he lived and modelled the values of his faith. RIP Father Earl...

Fr Crotty was a teacher at St Bede's when I was a pupil during the 1960s.
He was master in charge of the School Cadet Band, the Orchestra and Rowing. On top of this he taught classes, attended university and coached other sports. He nurtured
boys as they grew into adulthood. He was a fine man of seemingly endless energy...right until the end . I salute him.

Uncle Earl was a fabulous family history person. I am grateful that he interviewed my Grandparents-the sound of the grandfather clock in the background. He will be much missedxxxx

Our disabled son attended St. Augustine's College in Whanganui and was given great support from Father Crotty. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him. A very kind and gentle man.

To family and friends and community members of Father Earl our deepest condolences and sympathy at the loss of your brother in Christ. We knew him as our parish priest at WAitara in Taranaki and he was a beloved member of our community. He worked tirelessly to support the parish and we will hold them in our hearts always. Such a dear kind man who always remembered to send us a Christmas letter each year. It was such a privilege to have this man of God in our lives and in our grieving and sadness we know with great certainty that he´s back was our God and his loved ones who have gone before him. May he rest in peace. Photo last visit a few months ago Father Earl, Tony Zieltjes and Father Peter

What a privilege it has been to know and work with Father Fr Earl, His quiet nature, along with his compassion, respect and care for all who he came into contact with were fine characteristics.
I certainly will remember his stories on his annual pilgrimages to Whanganui over the last quinquennium.

Fr crotty taught me music at St Bedes in the mid 60s. He was a good and very patient man.
He gave his life's work to spreading the Gospel.
He will now recieve his reward with eternal life.
Rest in peace Father Crotty
