Douglas HENDRIE Obituary

(Formerly of Hector, West Coast) - Passed away peacefully at Te Nikau Grey Hospital on Sunday, April 12, 2026, aged 81. Dearly loved father of Bruce, John, and Jayne Toohey, very much loved grandfather of Daniel, Haylee, Reuben, Kristina, Michael, Danielle, and Hunter Toohey, much loved son of the late Walter and Margaret, loved brother of Joan Gifford, Anne and John Morrison, and Lynne and Dave Haslett, special friend of Janet Hendrie, and a respected uncle of all his nieces and nephews, and friend of many. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Te Nikau Grey Hospital and Ngakawau Health Centre for their care and support, also a special acknowledgment and thank you to his friends who were his family and the wider community for their unwavering support and true West Coast style mateship over the years. A private cremation has been held here on the Coast at the Westland Crematorium, a celebration of Douglas's life will be held at a later date.
