I'm sitting here this morning remembering all the wonderful things Dot did for the homeschooling community at the time that I was a newbee. Her enthusiasm, energy/passion, her knowledge, wisdom and kindness. Dot made a significant impact on our homeschooling life: with what I learned from her personally and also the benefit to many from the international speakers she brought to CHCH and the large scale HS conferences she whipped up. I'm sitting here this morning .... thanking God for Dot Brown and how she has made such a difference in how I raised and homeschooled my 4 children- who they have now become as independent, confident and creative adults out making waves in the world. Thank you Dot. (and thank you Ian for supporting and allowing Dot the freedom to put so much energy and time into her work supporting HSers)

Dear Ian, Leanne and family,
I was so saddened to hear of Dot's passing. Thank you for sharing her with us and many others over the years. I'll never forget our experiences together - so many good times and laughs organising those conferences, sharing homeschooling ideas, and discussing everything from ADHD to God and life in general.
Thank you for opening your home and for answering those early morning phone calls.
Praying for God's peace and comfort for you all.

Such a lovely person and so much knowledge that was willingly shared. Her support, especially in our family's early days of home education, was much appreciated. Our thoughts are with your family.

Dot Brown was a remarkable woman. Many of us involved in home schooling will say Dot has influenced generations. She was full of good advice, encouragement, wisdom, kindness and reassurance. Dots involvement in The South Island Home Educators inspired and motivated many a parent and child. As a follower of the Lord Jesus she was an encourager of those in the faith. We are sad at the passing of Dot; nonetheless we take great comfort she is with the Lord she loved. We will miss Dot and pray the living God will comfort and bring peace to Ian and the family. 1 John 3:2
