Donald SCALES Obituary

Born on December 6, 1933, and passed away peacefully at Holly Lea, surrounded by his family, on September 15, 2025, aged 91 years. Loving husband of Charlotte. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Michael and Peter, David and Bernadette, and Richard and Julie. Loved and cherished Grandad of Jessica, Henry, Edward, Annie, George, and John. Loved and respected by the late Christine. The family wish to thank Holly Lea, especially the staff at the Care Centre, for their wonderful care and support of Donald. Donald's life will be celebrated at St Barnabas Anglican Church, 8 Tui Street, Fendalton, on Thursday, September 25, at 2.00pm.

Donald & Charlotte were friends through a city- wide Bible study Charlotte was part of at St Barnabas with Carol.. We enjoyed times at their Clarkvillle land where Russell used to work with Colin Tyson after he set up three dairy farms for rehabs from the 2nd World War. Russell also found that his teaching post at Middleton Grange was on land previously owned by the Scales family.
We admired Donald toeing a huge caravan to Totaranui, with no stress!
Donald you were helpful to many, and always so sociable. You made a big impact in Christchurch and beyond.
You will be missed yet you have left many positive things that will be carried on to the generations now and to come.
