A big voice and a big heart. I appreciated the rare opportunities I had playing with Dixon in the 'old days' at the Woolston Workingmen's Club. His rich baritones were classic and he was a joy to work with. He was also ready to help me out at the Jazz School after the big earthquake, typical of his caring nature. My deepest condolences to Glenys and the family. In sympathy -Neill Pickard

Sending all my love to Vicky, Aaron, Kylie, Rebecca and Jessie on the loss of a much loved brother and so treasured and loved dad. I have so many fond memories of my big cousin, we all looked up to him, he was so cool and such fun. Those Thomas extended family gatherings were quite an event. Rest easy mate xx

In 1959 I (Peter Judkins) and my brother Don together with Dixon drove around the North island in dad's car .
Dixon told the story as "Imagine a17 year old (Peter) together with Don - 15 years old and Dixon who must have been about 15 years old taking Mum and Dad's (Judkins) Vauxhall car around the North island!" A happy time including inadvertently parking on a tram line in downtown Wellington. Peter Judkins
