Diane Joy (nee Stafford):
On May 2, 2022, Diane passed peacefully at home in Christchurch. Dearly loved wife of Alec. Much loved Mum and mother-in-law of Keri and Craig Johnston and Jodi and Chris Glassford and second Mum of Julianna and Paul Hartigan (Sunshine Coast, Australia), Stephen and Christine Neill (Dublin, Ireland), Genevieve and Declan Burke (Dar es Salaam, Tanzania). Loved grandma to Chelsea and Samara; Jonty and Will; Jessica and Stephanie; Grace, Alexandra and Ruby; Nova, Danu, and Tadhg. Loved daughter of the late Ray, and Isabel Smith (Oamaru), and beloved sister to Jude, Raewyn and Robyn. We wish to thank Dr Jade Hollis-Moffatt at Yaldhurst Medical Centre Family Doctors, and the amazing carers from Access Community Care. Messages to the Neill family, c/- 412 Yaldhurst Road, Christchurch 8042. A Memorial Service to celebrate Di's life will be held in Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church, 106 Main South Road, Sockburn, on Friday, May 6, at 2.00pm.

To Alec and Di's family. As former President of Avonhead Tennis Club, I can speak, I am sure, for all our club members and previous club members who knew Di, in offering our sincere condolences. Di was a vibrant, contributing member of our sports club for many years (at least 10 that I know of... but maybe closer to 20 years) and was the club secretary for 3 years. Di was also a member of our ladies premier mid-week competition team. We were all disappointed when Di made the silly decision to replace tennis with golf!
Di was a vital and lively club member, and no doubt delivered her warmth and vitality to the family and all friends. Kindest regards Clive
