Devern BURCHETT Obituary
Passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 9 , 2020, aged 52 years. Cherished son of Gerald and Sue (stepmother), and Gaye Te Aroha Witika. Adored brother of Melani Burchett, Charlene and Chris Smith, and Brent Burchett. Loving husband of Maxine Burchett. Dearly loved dad of Angela, Ranui and Ebony. Respected stepdad to Dale, Shane, Jacob and Tonya. Much loved Uncle to all his nieces and nephews, and treasured papa of all his mokopuna. The Funeral service for Devern will be held at the Celebration Centre, 81 Bickerton Street, Wainoni, on Tuesday, June 16, at 11.00am.

Sadly I only found out about an hour ago. Devern was a great bloke and I always enjoyed seeing him and having a chat. I just biked past him a few weeks ago coming out of Burwood forest and he was ambling a long chatting to a mate and grinning away as usual. Always enjoyed racing him and was seldom in front of him. RIP buddy, I'll miss you.

Dearest Maxine and cubs..so sorry to hear of your tragic loss...jamie and i have fond memories of our family catchups...Devern will be missed by all who knew him...treasured stepbro to us...our love goes to all the family ..gerry and sue..wish we could be there in person...although with u in thoughts and prayers...big hugs family...share the happy memories ..

Saddened to be told this morning of Devern's passing. I saw Devern last year and remember remarking to friends how good he looked. He just never seemed to be getting any older.
Gerry and Brent, I have fond and lasting memories of those cold winter mornings at Linwood Park and other spots around town.
In later years I would occasionally bump into Devern and chew the fat. Funny how the years pass and the memories and laughs seem to stick. Alas, I was always interested to hear what had happened in the interim. Please accept my best wishes and sympathy at this difficult time.
