Derek HUGHES Obituary
On Friday, July 22, 2022, peacefully at home with family, aged 86. Dearly loved husband of Margaret, loved father of Jeffrey (deceased), Gavin, Jonathan (deceased) and Erika Olsen, Lynley and Andrew Garratt (Christchurch), Bronwyn and Ian Spencer (Pukekohe), cherished grandfather of Petra and Jason O'Bery (Christchurch), Joel and Mikayla Garratt (Christchurch). Loved brother of Robin Whittaker, and uncle to Craig Imlay, Julie Proctor and Wayne Imlay. A celebration of Derek's life will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, College Road, Timaru, on Thursday, July 28 at 1.30pm, thereafter private cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cancer Research Trust NZ would be appreciated and can be left at the service. Messages to the Hughes family, c/- PO Box 772, Timaru 7940.

Dear all Derek's family and friends, I feel so privileged to have been a part of your lives for the past 20+ years, you have always welcomed me into your home and family. Bron and I have a strong friendship and i have loved being one of the many you know. I will always remember your smile Derek. I am not feeling well today so my massive apologies for not being able to be there. We will be praying for you at this time.

We worked with Derek and Margaret when the Timaru Presbyterian church was formed. Derek was the editor of the Link magazine and produced high quality editions for the church community. A lovely man. Our condolences to Margaret and family.
