Denise TILLING Obituary
Passed away peacefully at Te Nikau Grey Hospital with new and old friends by her side on February 15, 2022, aged 83. A loved member of the Tilling family, Jennie and Geoff (UK), a cherished friend and colourful Karamea Identity. Grateful thanks to all those, far and near, who supported and cared for Denise in myriad ways during her full and interesting life. Honouring Denise's Standing Orders, a private cremation has taken place on the West Coast at the Westland Crematorium and a private scattering of her ashes will take place according to her instructions. We have lost a gentle soul, a sharp mind, a caring and generous human being. Rest in peace dear Denise.

I only met Denise once in the flesh. That was in the (NZ) winter of 2010. But even then, and most definitely during the 11+ years since, Denise impressed me with her candor, humility, positive outlook on life, and especially her ineffable courage and indomitable spirit in the face of adversity. Over the years, our phone calls, exchange of letters, cards, parcels, and particularly our exchange of thoughts and ideas, were always a source of wonder, delight, and deep satisfaction. She lived a full and remarkable life. I will miss her VERY much. Adieu, ma chère amie, Denise.

We will always cherish Denise's great kindness, her vivacious and infectious laughter, great wit and knowledge, curiosity and sense of adventure, and especially her honesty, fair-mindedness, and humility. She embodied the best of humanity. Denise will be greatly missed.
