Denise leaves so many special memories of the wonderful play and learning environment she created at Huntsbury Play Club.
Her support for parents and their children was outstanding. Her care, kindness, expertise and enthusiasm made a huge difference to many! Our children just loved Play Club!
A wonderful loving person with so much to share. It was a privilege to have known her!
Kind regards and love to her family.

It was with a deep sense of shock and loss that I heard of Denise's untimely passing. We met 60 years ago as 4th formers, and also attended Teachers College together. Although we haven't lived in the same city for many years ours was one of those lovely friendships that simply picked up again where it left off last time. Denise was full of the joy of living, devoted to and proud of her family, and optimistic about the future. My heart goes out to her family. I will miss her enormously.

To the loving family of Denise, please accept our deepest sympathies. We knew Denise from Cherry´s Early Learning Centre, where our son Hugo attended pre-school. He formed a very special bond with Denise; and she was one of the few people who could get `Hurricane Hugo´ to go to sleep! Hugo and I had some lovely catch ups with Denise even after he finished at Cherry´s (and after Denise retired). Hugo is now 10 years old and he still fondly remembers the love and caring that Denise gave to him. We will miss Denise and her amazing positive energy. What a wonderful woman! Much love from Jill, Dominic, and Hugo xxx

I was very sad to hear of Denise's sudden and unexpected death.
I had only just spent time with her a few days before over a cup of tea and a really good chat which was always the way when meeting with Denise. Such a people person.
My husband Joe had worked with Peter at Air NZ and we had a wonderful holiday in Fiji together many years ago.
She was making plans for her future and these are sadly not to be.
Sending love to you all - a loving and supportive family she chatted to me about.

Dear Justin, Kirsten, Deanna and Jason, brother Donald, and Kyle, Zoe, Ava, Jeanie and Leighton
I heard with disbelief about the sudden loss of your loved Mum Mother in law , sister and Grandmother. What a terrible shock for you all so heartbreaking such a huge loss of a wonderful woman who touched so many. She always talked about you with such fondness and was so proud of her family
I had the privilege to work alongside Denise at Cherrys Riverview St Beckenham. I have known her a long time when she also worked at Huntsbury Play club she certainly was an inspiration in those early teaching years . As a teaching colleague we had a lot in common she was a hard worker, often bossy but also we had lots of fun with a great sense of humour, reliable and she worked hard to support us. I also shared memorable conversations about her Christian faith talking often about how she supported her church family.
Denise was also an old friend of my sister Georgina who went way back attending teachers college together she had lovely memories.
Denise was a very organised and professional teacher who built caring relationships and enjoyed working and supporting children and their families, she had an amazing amount of teaching skills and a wonderful work ethic and was a mentor to lots of teachers and student teachers.
Please accept my deepest condolences and hold on to all those happy fun family times. I know she will be so proud of you all and smiling as she looks down knowing she has been a faithful servant working tirelessly as a loving caring person who will be sorely missed by so many.
Big comforting hugs blessings and prayers for you all

Denise,
Such a shock to learn of your sudden unexpected passing. My treasured God Mother, although the years had certainly passed without us seeing each other, I know Mum kept us both up to date on the happenings of each other. I know she will never forget that last cup of tea shared together!
Shine brightly on us all from your place up there. Back together with your treasured Pete.
Love and condolences to Deanna and Justin and families.

We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Denise´s death. Our friendship goes back to our Teachers´ College days and continued on with meet-ups in different places - Hokitika, Brisbane and London. We fondly remember the last time we were in New Zealand and were treated to a delicious lunch by Denise with several hours of talking and laughter. She was a wonderful friend and devoted Mother and Grandmother. She was an accomplished musician and devoted to her work with children. We will miss you our friend even though our meetups were pretty much reduced to emails. Judy and Wayne Chapman, Brisbane

We were deeply saddened to hear the sad news of Denise passing and send our thoughts to her family who she spoke of often and clearly loved very much. Denise was a friendly and caring person who we enjoyed getting to know. We will miss her friendly waves and regular visits, as many in our neighbours will as well.
Lots of love to the family,
