Denis POWER Obituary
On Friday, February 10, 2023, in his sleep at home, aged 93 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Heather, loving father and father-in-law of Suzanne, Richard and Jo, David and Mariann, Simon (dec), Denis (D2) and Olive, Matthew and Sharon. Also a loved friend of all his stepsons, Sean and Brenda, Mark and Anne, Ross and Erin, Craig and Liz. Proud grandfather of Hannah, Benjamin, Maddie, Helena, Edward (dec), Rupert, Maya, Lucas, Michael, Julia, Will, Liam, Mia, Haylee, and Layla, and his five great-grandchildren. Friend to many and 56 years a Lion's Club member.

The Funeral Service will be held at Northbrook Chapel, Sparks Road, Rangiora, on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 1.00pm, followed by burial at the Balcairn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made at the service to Selwyn Central Community Care Trust who provided much assistance to Denis or internet banking Selwyn Central Community Care Trust BNZ 02-1266-0032602-00 Ref: Power. I am deeply saddened to learn of Denis´ passing. He was a gentleman. I recall him speaking easily and always thoughtfully to a wide range of matters. In short order he could also deliver a ribbing or quip alongside a warm hearted chuckle. I will forever remember the kindness he showed me as a very young man and frequent visitor to St. Kilda, now almost 50 years ago. My thoughts are with the Power family.

Born at Darfield on July 22, 1929, farmed at St Kilda until 1993, died at home in Rolleston, February 10, 2023. Eldest son of the late James and Annie Power (St Kilda, Flaxton), brother of Margaret and Keith Hills (both dec), Maurice (dec) and Shirley, Pat (dec) and Liz, Bede and Shirley (both dec), Raymund (dec) and Helen, Eileen and Don Fleming (both dec), Jim and Carmel, and Prue (dec). A loved Uncle of all his nieces and nephews.
